Chris Isaak - It Hurt Me So
www.chrisisaak.com/
A wonderful live performance on Australian ABC TV show with Andrew Denton.
Chris is accompanied here, as he often is, by the wonderful Kenney Dale Johnson.
The song was written by Carlie Rich around 1958 when Charlie was recording at Sun Studio and recorded by him as well as by Jerry Lee Lewis. Many thanks to WendyKS93 for telling me who wrote it and the correct title.

Yeah a few years ago I saw Emma swift singing this song as the opener of her support set for Robyn Hitchcock and the audience where totally shocked by the opening lyrics but I was blown away and I've absolutely loved this song every since and the original version is just a brilliant
What a song and a brilliant singer!
Gorgeous
...Pure magic
Wow! How good is this guy? I’ve never heard of him but he’s definitely a top drawer player and his vocals are excellent.👍👍🇨🇦
first heard this guy in the 90s, while married to an abusive man.I still admire Archie,he let light into my life
😢nice
The guy centre of shot is my Dad, Alan. Great video...
booooring
I always loved when he hit that high note as a little boy… Now I’m 50!
Soooooo gooooood
Loved all their songs, got their t-shirt and wear it. Some more recent YT vids here: (2007) ruclips.net/video/mLTZEmgjyLA/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/o9jNgxil7SQ/видео.html, then 2015 ruclips.net/video/_LtvhnViLdc/видео.html
I heard a few lines of this in an episode of Waking the Dead (series 2/6) and did a bit of googling to find out who it was. Haunting voice.
Nice
RIP :(
Genius.
This is a classic, they definitely don't make count like this anymore, and it is glorious.
Back then almost feels like an entirely different planet now
Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, Robt Earl Keen for turning Lyle on to this great song! Smoooooooth as silk...
Bears everywhere appreciate this song.
For all the new 2020-ers check out her concert. Search "Projection mapped Kaki King". It's nice to see how she's evolved over the years, opened up, and embraced herself for who she is.
When not singing he shares his playing face w Knopfler
I saw him play in Katoomba about 20 years ago and between songs he spoke more wisdom than I’ve ever heard from anyone. So glad he’s had such a powerful effect on Australian politics despite the voting loss in 2022. The one nation people from Queensland are on the road to embarrassment destruction and Kev Carmody’s truth will prevail!
this is in my top 25 greatest australian songs of all time. i could write a chapter on how much i LOVE this song
Greg Kihn died August 13th RIP ♥️🙏 Love this song!
An example of a great cover. True to the original with a unique spin. Like transforming the guitar arpeggios to the keyboard. And the soulful storytelling. Bravo Albert 👏
Excellent
40K views and no comments? Love this song - even if it's lyrical sentiments are completely misguided. Hearing Lyle and Tammy harmonize on it is a special treat.
Aged twelve and early senior school back then, I used to watch the programme!
What a great song. This boy can play.
I love it
No idea when i first heard this song but it was a long long long long time ago... And you know what? It is June 2024 as i write this and the song still sounds f%$king good...
this still hits me just as hard as it did over 20 years ago
Where's the complete show?
This song made me realise how much melancholy songs make you pipe up, listen and ironically feel better. Such a fragile sound, perfect.
i wish i never saw the sunshine
this song
This is an absolute gem. Thank you for posting! I asked Tommy a few months ago about his miking techniques (on his Best Of Tommy Songs Album) and he said a similar approach to this.
Oh yes. I think I'll burn my guitar now.
Brilliant!
Followed a Vincent motorbike up Burwood Highway through Wantirna and Vermont this afternoon. It was a joy to see on the road. Made me smile. Had to play this song.
Beautiful!
Barb Waters is my teacher I am so lucky

Undoubtedly one of the best Aussie bands of the 80's and 90's.....I have great memories (??) of their Brisbane gigs in the carpark!!
Learned a lot from you on your teaching videos, brother. One of the greatest thanks.
